From Valiant Entertainment - The Book Of The Geomancer
Post this on the board, lol
"Is Sin City Part of the VALIANT Universe?" lol And post the cover to Harbinger 8.
BTW, I just realized that I had been using XXX at the end of each message.
That was not meant to be used in the style of XOXO, lol. It was used instead of the asteriks, lol.

Yeah, but shouldn't the main page should be for Major Players? I would keep Miller's, Keel's and L.I.Z.A.'s entries, but wouldn't list them on the main page.
LIZA & Prime assembler should have their entries, but not be cast or crew. ;-)
I've been listing all the characters in those pages regardless of role.
The issue with LIZA and the assembler is that they're not really characters per se, they are items. Items don't usually go in those lists, but these items are sentient, like Grandmother. which is why they are listed.
The thing to consider is that while their role in the published issues was small, they are still a part of the concept, and were new stories to be told then their role might grow and require them to be on that list.
F'r instance: VH-2 Bloodshot's enemies would be: Oreck, Stroheim, Chainsaw, X-O Manowar (which will be listed, per Dinesh, as a Bloodshot VH-2 character and not given his own series entry), Bloodbath and Pileggi.
Warcat, Shadowman (again, within VH-2 Bloodshot only) and Seizure wind up as allies.
So neither XO nor Zero are getting summary pages, you're just doing character entries for the Bloodshot VH 2 category? cool.
I can't decide where Sinclair should go. I guess he's an enemy; even though he's in love with Garrison, he does Oreck's bidding.
In love with Garrison? I didn't see that in those five issues and must have forgotten about it from the other 11, heh.
I figure that the foundation should be able to come out of the issue summary, no?
Correct.
Personally, I think that this makes the wiki harder to read for the first time visitor. I want to read about the character. So, for example, should I have to read so much of "Raymond Garrison" to discover he left/lost his soul in Vietnam? Ditto discovering that "Angelo Mortalli" was an identity created though neuro-programming and memory implantation. Shouldn't that be the kickoff line in his entry?
The entries should open with a small summary that covers the overall summaries that follow.
Example, from Kazuyo Nakadai.
Before Grandmother, the freewill caretaker of Japan, chose Kazuyo to marry Tohru Nakadai, the heir to the mantle of Rai, she became an agent of the Anti-Grannies, an organization of Japanese citizens who feel oppressed by their lack of control over their lives that believe that Japan's fate belongs to its people and not a soulless machine.
Also check out the Grandmother entry, which opens with a summary of everything that happens to her before it dwells too deeply into the details.
These summaries appear before the drop down menu that contains the titles.
That's where you would put in one line "Raymond Garrison lost his soul in Viet Nam" before you dwell too deeply into the details of HOW it happened in the extended summary that follows.
Also, i'm kicking around entering the "Starting Over" data, but very briefly (obviously). And, similarly, the Wizard Magazine PunX preview. Thoughts?
Sure.
There was a PunX preview in Wizard? I only have that from issue 50 till today. I knew of the one in Previews where Solar calls Layton on the phone and tells him that he "put up with that Unity nonesense".
Giffen was being a jerk.
Again (in my opinion) very lofty, very ambitious. But also very confusing to the casual reader/visitor. I love Campbell, I've had HERO since 1991 and it's pretty worn. But, as you state below, he was dealing with generalities. You're dealing in specifics AND in specifics crafted by different artists/authors. It doesn't exactly dovetail, which can cause dissonance to the reader.
Not if done right. And at least with Shadowman it fits perfectly. The stories do seem to follow Campbell's book even if they weren't designed that way. The plots and themes follow the ones in the book at the right times and in the right ways.
Let me ask it this way: is the purpose of the wiki to engage/entertain the first-time visitor, or is to impress the anal fanboy? Because if you're trying to do that latter, I don't know that you can do the former.
And there you have it. You're putting your personal agenda and motivation on a work that existed independently of that filter. Again: what is VEI's intent for the Book of the Geomancer?
It's not meant to impress, it's meant to be a summary of the comics. That's what I was told to do.
Dinesh approved my using Campbell's book, which was a creative decision, not a personal agenda.
So far I've only done Shadowman using Campbell's book, and with that one title it worked. The issues fit perfectly within Campbell's diagram.
I DON'T know if the other titles will fit in as nicely since I haven't done the breakdowns yet.
Maybe they will, maybe they don't.
It's very possible that a lot of them will only fit within one or two chapters from Campbell's book even if the series are 50 issues long.
For instance, with Gilad the call of adventure can be the first two issues, with the refusal of the call being issue 3.
Those three issues fit within the first two chapters perfectly. The next 47 may not fit as nicely, or may not cover many chapters.
Jack's first chapter was the first 13 issues of his series. With Gilad it's the first two.
With someone like Bloodshot the first chapter might be the first 20 issues.
The point is that I won't know how the issues fit into the Campbell diagram until I do the breakdowns.
LASTLY (for this go-around) :P
Why would you list the Prime Assembler as a Foe to VH-2 Bloodshot? Or L.I.Z.A.?
Oops? Heh.
The Prime Assembler should be a supporting. LIZA is part of DOA, so she's a foe, no?
