In order to wind up a powerful spell, Master Darque required the sacrifice of twenty seven Death Runners – three times three times three –, so he promised ordinary people to grant them their lives’ desires, like success, money, and love.
When these individuals' time was up, and Darque commanded them to die, the Death Runners shouted incoherently, bled from every orifice, and ran until their bodies collapsed and they died.
